Swimming in the ‘Erro‘ river
The Erro River is nearby, where you can enjoy an invigorating swim. Just drive until you see where the locals has parked their cars and that is where you will find a path down to the river. You can enter the crisp waters carefully via the shore or adventurously from the rocks!
Walking/hiking
Various walking routes are indicated in the area and up-to-date maps are available in the apartment. Good walking shoes are recommended since the paths are sometimes uneven and strewn with stones and rocks.
Wine tasting
In the area there are several possibilities for wine tasting and a tour of the wineries. For example, “Cuvage” in Acqui Terme is a winery where, for a fee, you get a guided tour and expert explanation of the different types of wines before you get to taste them in their shop.
Markets
On Tuesdays and Fridays there is a market in Acqui Terme, which also includes a farmers market with local regional products on Fridays. The market is open from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. There are antique markets in Acqui Terme on the fourth Sunday of the month and on the third Sunday in Nizza Monferrato.
Swimming in Ponzone
Just 2 km from our house, near Ponzone, is a beautiful outdoor swimming pool “Scoiattolo Beach”. You can easily spend an entire day there. It has a large swimming pool, a children’s pool, parasols and deckchairs for rent, and a small bar for beverages and pizza.
Beach
In Liguria are nice coastal towns where you can eat delicious food on the beach and can look out on the azure blue Ligurian sea. One of these places is Celle Ligure which has beautiful old coloured houses along the boulevard with both pebble and sandy beaches. The beautiful mountainous road to the shore (51 km, about 5 minutes) is well worth it.
Walking with llamas
In Cavatore there is the possibility for children or families, accompanied, to walk with llamas or alpacas. It is a special experience during a beautiful walk through the hills of Monferrato.
Shopping
In Serravalle Scrivia (about 1 hour’s drive) is Designer Outlet Serravalle. A large shopping center with many clothing stores from major brands such as Gucci, Burberry, and Dolce & Gabbana.
